What can I expect in the first session?

Who goes to therapy?

During the first session we will focus on getting to know each other and learning more about what brings you to therapy. You will be able to ask any question you may have about the therapeutic process and we will determine what goals you would like to set as we start our work together.

Anyone can engage in the therapeutic process. Whether you are struggling with anxiety or just want to talk about life & relationships, therapy can be beneficial for all who choose to utilize it. It can be scary to make the first step to come to therapy -- everyone needs help every once in a while, and together I believe that we can collaborate and decide what goals you would like to accomplish.

How often should I go to therapy?

This depends on the issue being brought into therapy. I recommend starting out at once per week and titrating down as symptoms are relieved over time. This gives us an opportunity to build rapport and gain some momentum. That being said, you decide how often you want to come in, but I do give input on frequency depending on the issue and the goals the client wants to achieve.

How do I schedule my first appointment?

You can request an appointment for either a free 15-minute consultation or a full, 50- minute initial therapy session by contacting me. I will need some basic information from you before scheduling a consultation or therapy session, including the reason you are seeking out therapy.
